The purpose of the system testing is to observe the
performance of the system. Furthermore, this test will also test the functionality
of the system such as the login, reservation and how it will update the
database.
The unit testing done included the testing of the following
items:
- Functionality of the entire forms.
- Testing the user interface of the system.
- Validations for user input.
- Testing the functionality of calculations.
- Performance time testing
For the system testing, we asked 4 students to be our user. According to Nielson, the best result of user testing come from testing no more that 5 users and running as many small tests as you can afford. At first, we intend to do testing with 5 users, however later on we decided just to use 4 users. According to Nielson, "As you add more and more users, you learn less and less because you will keep seeing the same thing again and again. There is no real need to keep observing the same thing multiple times. After the fifth user, you are wasting your time by observing the same findings repeatedly but not learning much new." We use focus group method for user testing. The participant are chosen because they rent a car often. Below will be the result of the system testing:
- User finished the task within 4 minutes and having error when she need to submit the details she has fulfilled inside the given form. Besides, it took few seconds for her to find the text box of the form since the text box is located a bit far from the title. Yet she still success in renting a Perodua Alza.
- User finished the task within 3 minutes and success in booking a Perodua Myvi car. He said that after submitting the form, the word "Your submission was successful" is too small to be compared with the area of the form. Or in other word, waste of space.
- User finished the task within 4 minutes and success in renting Perodua Kancil. He said that there is no guideline on how to rent a car. He need to try which button that is suitable for renting a car for example Catalogue button.
- User finished the task within 3 minutes and success in renting Proton Iriz. She said that the layout of the website is simple and clean. However, she's lost on where to go next. There is no guideline for renting the car.
Conclusion from the system testing is:
Most of the user are lost where to go to rent a car. There is no guidelines or appropriate guidelines that guide them throughout the booking system.
As the results are being collected, we will make corrective action by improving User Interface Design to our website so that user will find is it ease to use our car rent system.
